Gaming With Verne – October/11/2010 Football

I’t been a while, right? Sorry to keep myself away from you all for such a long time, I understand that can be difficult for some. the good news is that I’m back in the States and I’m ready to play some good old fashioned American Football. So tonight it’s going to be Madden 11 for the PS3 at 6:30 PM PST. I’m going to be clearing out my friends list, so if we never played together then you’re most likely going to get the boot. See you all online!
Angry Birds is an extremely addictive iPhone game
Angry birds is the newest game I play on my iPhone all the time. It’s simple to pick up and play but hard to master, which means anyone can get in on it and spend hours fiddling around.
the idea is this: you fling birds via a giant slingshot in to buildings in order to crush the enemies inside. Just as nature intended species to battle it out.
As someone who spends way too much time on their iPhone playing games, this game has one of the best features in it which is that you can start playing it almost immediately whenever you click the app icon. It starts up without a hiccup and before you know it you’re launching birds headfirst in to concrete barriers.
Check it out on iTunes becasue it’s only ¢99, that’s CRAZY!
ESPN on the Xbox looks really good, can’t wait to check it out on Nov. 10th!
I don’t use my Xbox as much as I should, but I do have one and I do appreciate the addition of feautures like Netflix, Hulu, Facebook and Twitter and the not-yet-available ESPN. The Xbox seems like with all of these feature they will really be able to become something more than just a video game console. The ability to have a live game NBA game going and watch it with friends across the country is something that we can’t even do with TV’s yet, it’s going to be a trip!
If they keep this up (and come out with some smaller controllers) I might just find myself on there a little more often.
The Fall update for the Xbox Dashboard is coming out on November 10th.
The iPhone update gives you HDR photos, what do you guys think of it?
The newest update for the iPhone came out a few days ago, and since there almost 50 Million iPhones have been sold to date I’m guessing more than a few of you have one. My question is this: Does the new High Dynamic Range actually work? I see a lot of pictures around that look pretty awesome, but I’m not sure it pans out as good as claimed.
What do you all say? Anyone got some example shots I can look at?
Sometimes things just make sense
I know there are a lot of people out there like me who can’t stand when they have a good meal in front of them with no way to eat it like a civilized person. Missing utensils is the worst thing ever. Whether you’re getting take out, to-go or something else, you want to be able to chow down like a normal person. With Din-Ink you can!
all you need is a pen or a pen-like object to use as a handle and slip the cap on the end to turn it in to a proper spoon, fork or knife. So cool! I want to keep a set in my glovebox for emergency picnics. Best of all is that they’re cheap.
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days review
Turns out most of you didn’t have a copy of K&L2 OR R6V2. Well, we ended up playing a little co-op K&L last night and if I had to sum up that game in one word it would be “Shaky”.
Most of the time the shaky is a good thing, it makes the game feel like it was filmed by someone other than the characters you play as, just how a movie is filmed by a cameraman who is not in the film. But sometimes, especially when running, or when you are surrounded by enemies and being shot at, the camera becomes this rotating, swirling lense with no gravity. You can get, not motion-sick, but motion-bored maybe? They kind of overdo it is what I’m saying.
Aside from that, the look of the game is a desaturated, bleached-out run through the underworld of Shanghai. You spend more time in sweatshops and rainslick backalleys than in any normal video game locations like “Warehouse A” or ” Office Complex #2″. It’s gritty and it’s messy.
Over all, it’s a nice change. I’m in to the game, and plan on finishing it in the week. I can’t wait to see what multiplayer has to offer. I hear it’s good.
The Trailer for Bioshock: Infinite is breathtaking
The first Bioshock was a masterpiece of gaming. It was loved by almost every person. That doesn’t happen very often. Then they let another team make the crapy sequel, and NOW they’re making a sequel/prequel to the original called Bioshock: Infinite. And the trailer looks absolutely incredible. From the looks of the trailer, you’re in a flying city, with telekenetic powers and metalo-men. I gota say, this looks pretty awesome.
We need to put Toy Story, Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect together for real now!
It took me a few minutes of looking at this picture before I completely understood what I was looking at. I saw John Marston from Red Dead, but then I saw Buzz Lightyear, or was it Shepard from Mass Effect? No Wait Oh, AAh! Now I get it!
It’s kind of funny to think that the characters that people play with as children can also be used by grown ups in their video games, huh? That’s what I was thinking.
