Heading out to Minneapolis for the Starkey Foundation’s Awards Gala next week
The Starkey Foundations is the premier group for helping the world by delivering hearing aids and hearing protection information. It’s a great organization and they really do a lot of good work across the world.
I’ll be attending the Annual Awards Gala next week which means that sadly I’ll be missing Comic Con in Sand Diego. That means That means that you are all going to have to catch me up when I get back. If it’s anything like The anaheim comic con then it should be pretty fun. Enjoy everyone!
What if basketball was more like soccer?
I love basketball and I love soccer, but when you think about it… they’re pretty different sports. The scoring, fields of play, and the use of hands/feet. At the same time they also share a lot of things like flopping, and hustling (both soccer and basketball players are running a lot). But what if basketball was more like soccer? What if you watched a 60 minute game with where no one scored most of the time? It would be mindblowing especially when you think that the average B-Ball game score is like 100 to 100.
Okay everyone, where do YOU think LeBron is going?
Since he became a free agent on the 1st, Lebron’s been taking meeting with the Bulls, the Heat, the Knicks, the Nets, the Clippers and even his old team Cavs. We all know about his clode relationship with Jay-Z and the crazy amount of money that the Nets are probably prepared to throw at him to kick start a Jersey Basketball renaissance. Knowing this, where do you think LeBron is going to play next year?
My money is on the Nets. It just sounds like too sweet a deal for LeBron to pass up, he can be the Keystone in the creation of a Basketball team with no funding limit (at least that’s what it feels like). I think that maybe when you get to the level that LeBron is at , maybe money isn’t as important as branding. In the end, who knows. I guess we’ll all find out tomorrow.
Everyone have a good 4th of July, Happy Birthday USA
This one goes out to all my fellow countrymen (and women) in The U.S.A. Have a happy 4th of July and celebrate responsibly, not like everyone who rioted in L.A. when the Lakers won the finals. Whatever you end up doing just make sure you spend your time with the people you care about. and if you happen to pass a soldier in uniform, maybe give the guy a nice handshake. See you all on Tuesday!
Mankind’s greatest hits all under one guy’s roof
The Ted Talks are basically the smartest people in the world getting together in one place and being super intelligent around each other for a couple of day at a time. It’s like the NBA All-Star game for nerds. This is a video from one of their talks where a Jay Walker shows off his private library and basically lets everyone know how insanely rich and brilliant he is.
In the library you’ll find:
- A Sputnik. A real, Russian Sputnik satellite prototype
- An original-print Chaucer
- An experimental jet airplane built by NASA
- A Raptor skeleton
- A Nazi Enigma code machine
- The imagination of humanity
Check out the TED site for more mind-blowing videos.
In-N-Out expands to Dallas, Texas.
For a burger joint with only 3 meal choices on the menu, In-N-Out has an insane number of fans. One time I took a friend of mine from Australia to grab a burger there and he said his life would never be the same after. They’re that good! These restaurants have only been in California, Arizona and Nevada and Utah since all the burgers come from southern California.
To me and most other Californians this is like saying they’re opening an new Disneyland in Texas. On one hand I’m happy that more people will get to try it out, but on the other… I feel we’re loosing a little of that special magic that made In-N-Out burgers a distinct specialty of the south west.
But maybe I’m just being stupid about delicious hamburgers. Enjoy them out there is Dallas, y’all!
So I got an iPad and I love it!
For some reason there is a bunch of hullabaloo surrounding Apple and everything they’ve put out in the last 5 years. It seems like folks are very quick to jump on the “Hate Train” about products that they would never buy in the first place. That’s just people being negative about everything it seems to me.
That said, I got myself an iPad and I love it. It’s smooth, it’s sexy and it’s fast. The price was a little steep, but when you take in to account all of the things it can do it really boggles the mind. Full video review coming in the following weeks. Peace!
Another Great Actor Passes. Dennis Hopper (1936-2010)
Dennis Hopper. Just writing his name makes me think of the amazing number of characters he brought to life. Rebel Without a Cause, Giant, Easy Rider, Hang’em High, Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, Hoosiers… The man was part of some of the biggest and best movies of a generation. I’ll never forget the image of him riding that motor cycle across the country.
Farewell Dennis Hopper, we will always have your fine films to remember you by.

Rest in Peace – Gary Coleman
I don’t think people really know how much they are going to miss Gary Coleman right away. It may take a while, maybe even a years, before people hear his name and really feel that little pang of mourning in their hearts. For a long time now Gary had been trying to get things right and it was too easy for most people out there to see his personal life as something to laugh at.
I worked with Gary Coleman back in 2000 on the show Shasta McNasty. He was a great guy then and I’m sure he was a great guy up until he passed away. He worked for a long time in this industry, something not many people can say. That’s what I liked about him.
We’ll miss you, Gary.

Iron Baby Makes My Day Even Better
Get ready for your 3 day weekend with this well-done clip called Iron Baby. The only problem I have with this video is the name. Iron Baby? How about Iron Tot, or Iron Whippersnapper? Either way this is exactly the video I need to get my (TGI)Friday started!
