Football. Tonight. Finally

Tonight is the start of the National Football Season. tonight we will see the Minnesota Vikings verusus the New Orleans Saints. It’s going to gfeel good to watch 9a game on the TV again, I’ll tell you that. Trafic should be good, crime should be down and hopefully a soothing calm come over the world as we gather around to see the beginning of the 2010-2011 season.

My phone will be off if anyone is trying to reach me, by the way. I think you know why.

LeBron, Jay Z and Mikhail Prokhorov had a meeting. What do you think they talked about?

So LeBron is a free agent and buddies with Jay Z who is part owner of  the New Jersey Nets along with Mikhail Prohorov. And the these three gentlemen just had a meeting in Cleveland and you can bet your tuhkus that they’re discussing the possibility of getting LeBron to New Jersey. How crazy is that going to be? Could this be the beginning of a Yankees-type dynasty?

I’ll be honest, I just like to imagine the conversations that went on around that desk.

Jay Z – “We want you to play for New Jersey”

LeBron – “Will I get a lot of money?”

Mikhail – “Oooooooh yes”

LeBron – “Cool”

We had a good run, USA

After games of close calls and heroic last minute shots, Team USA lost to Ghana yesterday in South Africa. I was bummed out to witness the loss but when it was all over I was happy to look back at what happened in the competition… it seems like this year Americans really got in to the whole “soccer is the world’s game” feeling and supported the international tournament in full force.

Here’s to hoping that we as a nation can keep up that level of enthusiasm until 2014 and the next World Cup. Congratulations to Team USA for making it that far and to Ghana for making it further.

Have a great weekend, wherever you are on earth.

People from around the world (not just the US) reacting to Landon Donovan’s game winning goal against Algeria. Man, that USA cheer is infectious!

U.S.A.! U.S.A.!

How about that Landon Donova, huh? Scoring the winning goal in added time to push USA in to the next round. That guys got to be feeling pretty good! It was a tight match the whole way, lots of amazing shots on goal but nothing went in except that one offsides shot.

Here’s hoping that this win can get more Americans interested in Team USA’s games, this IS the World Cup you know! Congratulations to Team USA, hope to see them go all the way!

So, that was a goal right?

I hate to pile on the ref like everyone else, but the poor man clearly made a bad call and caused the U.S. Team the victory in it’s match against Slovenia today. It’s easy to jump on the guy for making the mistake (he’s only human, people) but in some instances, you have to call a mistake a mistake.

I just wish this didn’t happen on the heels of Jim Joyce call that ruined the perfect game for Armando Galarraga. Who can we trust in this country if not the sports officials?! Lets just hope that Team U.S.A. can rally and come back to do some significant damage to the Algerians.

Lakers Win!

Talk about a roller Coaster of a game! I just about changed the channel at first, the Lakers were stinking it up out there. Bizaro Kobe was not making it happen and it seemed like no one could make a shot to save their life. But then, in the darkest hour, at the precipice of defeat… they came alive. From about the 3rd quarter the Lakers just flipped the switch and pulled out the win to become back to back NBA champions.

I gotta say, my favorite player is my man Ron Artest. If he were just insane that would be one thing… but the man has got unparalleled defensive skills with some clutch shooting potential. this guy is the perfect storm of thug/skill/and awesomeness.

Looks like it’s game 7!

Aw man, I really didn’t want to see it come to this. I just wanted to get in and get out. 4 up 4 down. I guess going all the way to the end is pretty amazing thou, it HAS only happened 3 or so times in the last 30 years.

So yeah, everyone gather around your TVs this tomorrow night for the last game between LA and Boston. It’s going to be dramatic one way or the other.

Formula 1 in Canada this weekend. I’m taking Friday off, everyone!

This weekend I’ll be in Montreal for the Formula 1 Gran Prix Canada at the Gilles-Villeneuve Raceway. If you’ve never been to an F1 race, or any kind of large scale motor competition then I don’t know what to tell you. The amount of power that these cars function with is almost frightening. The feeling of the machines as they drive by will vibrate the fillings out of your teeth, it is the closest human beings have ever come to creating a force of nature.

There’s no word on whether or not Tony Stark will be attending but I’ll let you know if Iron Man makes an appearance.

Woo Lakers! Fisher is the MAN!

This is what Derrick Fisher said after the game in Boston last night. “It’s like being a kid…man you never get tired of that candy”.

That guy was so clutch last night that it is no exaggeration to say that he won it for he Lakers. Ron Artest also did an great job holding off Pierce and Davis though he didn’t really make any points. What I’m really interested in is how Ray Allen went from scoring the most 3’s in any finals game to missing almost every single shot he took out there last night. What happened to him? I saw somewhere that it was one of the worst playoff performances ever. Ouch.

The next two games are in Boston, so if the Lakers sweep the Celtics they might not win the title here in LA. I’ll take a win on the road to no win at all though!
