Move over Spielberg, I’m getting an OWLE Bubo

by admin

The OWLE Bubo is a pretty sweet device for turning your normal ho-hum iPhone camera in to a beast of a filming rig. The OWLE is a holster/mount for your iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs or iPhone 4 to slip in to that turns your regular built-in iPhone camera the ability to switch between a 37 mm Macro and 37 mm Wide Angle lense with a front facing mic and much more stable grip.

All you have to do is slip your iPhone in to the OWLE Bubo frame and use the camera as normal. Depending on which lense you use you can get extremely close macro shots or a .45x wide angle lense that will expand the scope of your shot. It’s pretty amazing. I love to see a company improve upon the function of a device so much further than the original designers.

Along with the improved lenses you also get a forward facing microphone that helps to capture audio the audio that you’re filming so much better than the built-in mic which faces away from the bottom the phone so you’re really hearing whatever is to your left while you normally film).

And last but not least is the weight of the Bubo, which greatly helps in stabalizing the camera in your hands and leads to much smoother and “glitch free” videos.

So far, everything I’ve written above already makes the OWLE Bubo worth buying. But added to all of this, the OWLE Team and Vid Atlantic are working to turn this thing in to a super professional rig with more lenses than Ansel Adams could shake a tick at.

I’m super excited about getting one of these bad boys and you can bet your bottom I’ll be reviewing it once I mess around with it for a while. Look forward to that!
